About Me

Christian René Welp

I have many years of experience in various clinical and outpatient settings. As an intercultural trainer – and through having lived in several countries – I bring a deep understanding of cultural differences and unique life stories to my work.

In therapy, I place great importance on an individual, respectful, and empathetic approach – tailored specifically to you. Equally important to me are honesty and openness, so that we can build a strong foundation for working together.
That’s why I believe in using initial consultations and trial sessions to get to know one another.
Here, too, honesty is key – so we can determine whether we’re a good match, personally and professionally, and how best to collaborate. Research shows that the so-called therapeutic alliance – whether therapist and client “get along” – is one of the most important predictors of how effective and helpful therapy will be (e.g., Norcross & Lambert, 2019).
I firmly believe that every person brings their own strengths and capabilities, which we can discover together. I also value creativity, openness to new ideas, and lifelong learning. That’s why continuing education and being open to new therapeutic approaches are essential to me – to find the treatment method that fits best for each individual.

As a licensed psychological psychotherapist, I am qualified to treat the full range of psychological concerns. These include: depression, crises, stress/burnout, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, trauma-related disorders, psychosomatic symptoms, social anxiety, self-esteem issues, dissatisfaction, and sexual difficulties.
Even in the absence of a formal diagnosis, psychological counseling can be helpful – for example with self-discovery, job changes, relocation, relationship difficulties, recurring behavioral patterns such as procrastination or avoidance, or coping with grief.
A particular area of personal interest for me is working with individuals struggling with sexual issues, anxiety disorders, trauma-related symptoms, and psychotic disorders.
